Dr. Whitney Young grew up in Louisville, Kentucky, and received her undergraduate degree in animal sciences from the University of Kentucky. She obtained her Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from Auburn University.

Following a small animal surgery and medicine internship at the University of Pennsylvania, a research fellowship in neurology & ophthalmology at the University of Missouri, and a specialty internship in ophthalmology at Mississippi State University, Dr. Young completed a three-year ophthalmology residency at North Carolina State University.

During her time at NC State, she received specialty training in medical and surgical management of eye diseases in canine, equine, feline, food, and exotic animals. After becoming board-certified in ophthalmology, she worked in Philadelphia, PA. Her clinical interests include corneal disease, ophthalmic surgery, and retinal disease.

Outside of work, Dr. Young enjoys spending time with her husband and their five dogs, traveling to explore new places, kayaking, and hiking.
