Dr. Matt Frankie graduated from Saint George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in 2012. In 2013 he moved to Asheville and began working as a general practitioner. He started practicing in emergency clinics in 2016 and found that the pace appealed to him.

After spending several years seeing cases at a single emergency clinic, he saw a need during the pandemic to help out with the labor shortage. He has spent much of 2020 and 2021 traveling all over the state of North Carolina filling in at clinics where there was a need for emergency veterinarians. Always eager to grow as a clinician, he jumped at the opportunity to work with the specialists at Upstate Vet.

First and foremost, Dr. Frankie is a devoted husband and father. He spends nearly all of his free time with his wife and son. His hobbies include training for, and participating in, distance races. He is also an avid reader.
